My second picture!

This is my second picture! Instead of using paint, I used water colour this time! I loved doing the sunset because I love sunsets and the colours sunsets can be. First, I did the sketch then I started with the sand then I did the plants with a light green then a little bit of yellow then some dark green at the bottom. Then I did the ocean! I tried making a gradient light blue to dark blue but it didn't really work but I'm still very happy with how the ocean turned out! When I did the sun I think I shouldn't of put red and instead I could've done orange to yellow but I still like it! When I did the sky I did red, orange then yellow and repeated that, and since there was no white water colour and it would look messy with no water colour I got grey and lightly coloured the clouds then put water on it! I really enjoyed making this picture and I don't know if we're allowed to do a third one but I hope we do!

Poem about Music

Music is pleasing to your ears.

Everyone has their favourite type of music! Even bears.

Music is art.

People sing from their heart!

Music is beautiful like a sunset.

I love music.

This is the picture I painted! Everyone had to paint a picture of something from New Brighton and I chose to paint the pier. I wanted to paint that because you get a good view of the beautiful ocean and the wonderful sunset. I loved painting the ocean because you got to see how many different types of blue you could make and all of them were so pretty I couldn't choose what to use my the ocean! Eventually I picked a blue and painted the ocean. It took me a while to finish the picture but I'm proud.

Joy.

The colour of joy is yellow like the sun.

Joy tastes like sweet cake.

Joy smells like a beautiful flower.

Joy looks like a dog running along the wet sand along the beach happily.

Joy sounds like kids laughing.

Joy feels like you smiling at someone and they smile back.

Eco-System

🍁~ Eco-System ~🍁

~ How to make an ecosystem ~

For the past couple days, Kathy’s Group has been learning about Ecosystems with Talei. We’re making our own right now! In the first layer there is the aquatic layer. The second is where all the decomposer go. (worms, fungi. etc) it is called the decomposition layer. The last is the terrestrial layer/ soil layer. In those layers they need certain things. There are certain living things that live in those layers. There are decomposers, Consumers and Producers. The decomposers are worms and fungi. The Consumers are animals and the producers are trees and plants.

Equipment:

1.51 Bottle x3 (Make sure the lids have holes in them)

Stones

Water

Leaves

Soil

Oxygen Weed

Seed

How to make:

Cut all the bottles in half.

Put rocks in one of the pieces.

Put seeds and soil in the top layer.

Put leaves in the second layer.

Put water and little aquatic plants in the last layer.

Put them in order on top of each other

Then you are done!

The End.

Kitchen Experiments Science Inquiry

What I did:

We did some incredible experiments with ingredients from the kitchen. Here are the experiments we did:
The Dancing Raisin

Magic Milk

Plastic Milk

Why does the water change colour?

School-Made Lemonade

My favourite experiment was School-Made Lemonade because it tasted so sour and delicious because I love sour drinks and food. It was also because it was so fascinating because we put a raisin in the lemonade and bubbles surrounded the raisin and made it go up and down.

What I learnt:

When you mix a substance that contains an acid (for example-vinegar, citrus-grape juice, lemon juice and tomato juice) with a carbonate (for example- baking soda, washing soda, baking powder, chalk and egg shells) the two react to form carbon dioxide gas. It is this escaping gas that causes the fizzing.

The Box

Where is the food?! I’ve been looking for ages and I’m starving! I’m so hungry that when my tummy rumbles it feels like a mini earthquake! Oo I see a bag to climb up onto so I can jump onto the counter.

There better be food up there! I can smell it from under the table. Okay, the plan is set. I climb up the bag so I can jump onto the counter and eat some food. It will definitely work! So I nervously crawl out from under the table and I put the plan into action! I can already taste the delicious food in my mouth. 20 seconds later I’m on the top of the bag and about to climb up onto the counter- wait a minute, did I just see a man stare at me? He probably just could’ve heard me but didn’t see me. But how could he hear me?

Surely he can’t hear a mouse from that far away! I was like a meter or two away from him! Okay I’ll just forget it. It’s probably just a coincidence. I stealthily run between jars of candy and canned food. Sadly, I can’t open it since I’m just a weak tiny baby mouse trying to look for food. Oooo! I think I see food all the way over to the other counter! It’s a long way but it’ll be worth it! I run past all the food and then… I see it. There’s a HUGE wall in front of me… Eh, it’s fine. I can run past beside it but then it’s not a wall? Is it a wall but without the edges? No, that doesn’t make sense. Oh! I know, it’s a box! But what’s inside the box?

I can’t leave it there without knowing what’s inside it! I’m so curious but I can’t die today! I’m way too young to die! No! I should be brave, I think I can smell food in the box! Or it’s just my nose playing tricks on me and it’s most likely the food over there. Anyway, there is no such thing as life if you don’t try something new! I run under the box but then it falls?! Now I’m trapped inside a dark box with no food or water I should’ve just left it! I could be brave another day and, I’m scared of the dark! An hour passes by and I get quite hungry, and thirsty. I feel paper slide under my feet and I feel like I’m flying! I’m in the air. Another hour passes by and- wait? Is it just me or I see light! I see a crumb of bread or a biscuit (Either one) slide under then it’s dark again. Is the food toxic? Poisonous? I can’t trust it! It might kill me… I tried to be brave by going into the box but something bad happened. I can’t trust it.

I see a hole on top of the box so I can breathe. The fresh air smells so nice. Since I don’t like the crumb of bread because it could be toxic I grab the crumb between my paws and throw it up as far as I can! Ugh, it didn’t work. I try again I grab it between my paws and throw it up as much as I can while jumping at the same time so it increases my luck of getting it out. It worked! Now I can’t get poisoned. Nothing can kill me! Ouch! The light is hurting my eyes! The box lifts up above my head and I can finally breathe properly! Is that the man that I saw spying on me?! Well it doesn’t matter right now… I stare at him nervously he takes the “poisonous” crumb and eats it right in front of me! Rude! I want to try it now! He waves his hand around is other hand that he ate the crumb with and then the crumb came back! Mystical! He puts the crumb in front of me and I’m tempted to eat it but since he ate it surely I can eat it! I sniff it cautiously then I take it and run a little but then I stop. The man smiles and he takes his finger out and points it towards me! What is he going to do to me?! He’s about to touch me but I run away quickly! Phew, that was close. *A couple hours later* I see that man again. Is he dead?! Or is he sleeping? Oh, I see him breathing so obviously he’s alive.

I climb up his arm and I find crumbs on his shoulder. I grab one of them and climb back up onto the top of his shoulder and eat the crumb watching the television. Then I run back under the table. He’s actually pretty kind.

The Kakapo

The Kakapo is a parrot with whiskers and it weighs over 4 kilos. Surprisingly, the Kakapo is flightless. The Kakapo is also a herbivore

Kakapos live in the mountains here in New Zealand. They can be found in trees eating seeds from the emute tree. As you know, the Kakapo is flightless, as it is too heavy to be airborne.

The Kakapo shakes trees to get apples out of them but their favourite food is the tiny seeds from the emute tree. They are also nocturnal but they sometimes wake up before sunset. They also breed very slowly for a bird. Another reason they can’t fly is because they have short wings.

The Kakapo can live up to 100 years.

Kids~Teach~Reflection

~Tane Mahuta Kids Teach~

If you don’t know what Kids Teach is - let me tell you! So you either teach people your passions like drawing, sports and more! Or you’re a person wanting to learn from other people.

I taught people and I taught drawing with Dasha but Dasha was away so Charlotte did it with me instead.

So the positive things that happened was that they behaved well and they kinda did their own thing. They were really good. Most of them used Chromebooks for drawing tutorials and some did drawing from their imagination.

I loved seeing all the drawing after they were done! They were amazing! All were so well done, it was breathtaking! I felt so proud.

There’s nothing I really want to change but if I think about it I think I want to keep drawing at home to improve then next time I shouldn’t really let them go freely like, when I applied for Kids Teach I said I would teach how to draw animals and how to draw manga eyes so I think I should put more options on there and teach them those.

I would love to do this again because everyone in the group enjoyed it and so did I! It was paw-some. I really loved doing this and I hope I can improve on my drawing so I can teach more.

I was also a student before with Maya she taught drawing and she kinda let us draw freely too and I drew a kawaii bunny girl next to a willow tree but I gave it to Charlotte because she really liked it.

Marble~Race~Challenge

On Thursday August the 1st I did the Marble race with Levi, Arthur and Emily but Emily joined another group that had no one in their group except for one person. So it was huge and it was long all made out of paper and cellotape. I didn't do much because I was at ukulele but then I joined their group and when we did the race I was watching and I wasn't in the picture but I watched the whole thing it was so exciting! It was so fun to watch and there was so much suspense when my team rolled their marble down our marble run. As the marble rolled across the carpet I was silent. Was our team going to win? But it doesn't matter about winning it's just about having fun. So as I watched the marble roll past all the other marbles I was amazed as I saw the marble go past the furthest one. Then I realized... WE WON! I didn't go crazy about it but in my mind I was so excited! They took a picture at the end and at the start but I wasn't in it because I'm camera shy so I'm sorry that I don't have a picture anyway I hoped you enjoyed my story about what happened at the Marble race and thank you for reading this! Bye!

England -My country-

England

England is in the continent of Europe. Europe is a landlocked continent and England is in the Northern hemisphere.

The flora and fauna/nature in England is cliffs, forests and mountain slopes. In summer it can get so hot that it’s really fun to walk around in the woods every once and awhile so you can relax in the shadows underneath the trees.

In England the population is 56.06 million. When your in England the places that I would recommend are Big Ben, Buckingham Palace, Tower of London and Stonehenge.

England’s nearest country is Northern Ireland but others are Wales, Scotland and the United Kingdom/UK.

England's currency is Pound sterling. England’s main cities are London, Birmingham, Manchester, Glasglow, Newcastle, Sheffield, Liverpool and Leeds.

England is a great place to go but make sure you bring some warm clothes because it can get very cold.

Chariots of fire

Elizabeth set us a challenge to make a chariot for a Sphero. I worked with Lucia. Now you’re probably wondering what a Sphero is? A Sphero is a ball of machinery that moves around. We made our chariot out of cardboard, Straws, Bottle lids and more! We had a couple of mistakes like, crooked wheels, our Spheros coming out and we had to fix it by using the hot glue gun and make the laminated sheets around it more loose. When we all finished our Spheros we had a race and even though Lucia and I didn’t win, we both enjoyed it.
